Hill Top

Hey everybody,

During the bus ride up to Hill Top, when she was talking to Alice, I think that saying good things about her grandmother helped her get over the fact that she doesn't have one. It helped her have something for a few hours that she hadn't had for her real life. Eventually she learned her lesson for lying but I think that it helped her get away from her real life for a while and have something that she has wanted for so long.

On page "129". I learned something that was really interesting. Soof could be her father. It really puts a twist on the story. But then on page 163 at Hill Top, one of the people there called her soof. Is she soof? I think that she was just really excited that there was someone at Hill Top who knew the word Soof.

I thought it was really weird that someone pick pocketed her back pack and stole all her money. I thought maybe that it was someone trying to stop her from going to Hill Top. It was kind of a weird part.

There is something really weird about Mr. Hill. He knows Bernie. I have a feeling he is hiding something.

    Also, is she soof? Maybe, but I think Thurman Hill is the dad and he is soof.

    Well Sarah from reading this I'm now thinking that maybe Heidis real name might be Soof even though Heidis mother named her Heidi her real name could really be Soof instead of Heidi. I think this because Heidis mother has mental issues she could have forgotten that Heidis real name is Soof. Do you think so to?

    That is a good guess Emily.
    I really like Brysons idea though, that maybe Mr. Hill is the dad. It would explain why Mr. Hill said Dette was "asking for money". He might think that Dette will find out he is the father and ask for money to help Heidi and her mother.
    It would also explain why he kept getting really red when Heidi was here and that he was never answering Dette's phone calls.
    He could have erased all evidence that So B. It was ever at that house because he wanted to get rid of that memory or everything that happened the night of the christmas party.-Sarah W

    Hey Sarah, Bryson, and Emily,

    Great thoughts about "Soof" and "Mr. Hill" what does Mr. Hill's body language say about him. Bryson do you have any evidence to prove what you know? Some thoughts for the text. Do you think it is an issue Mr. Hill could be the father of a patient at the clinic? Would this be a problem?

    Sara you hinted that maybe Mr. Hill might be providing money to Heidi and her mother based on something Bernie has done. Why do you think this?

    Well I know that when on page 173 Thurman Hill says"Bernadette? Is that whats she's calling herself now?......I tore up those letters and ignored her for a reason. I won't have her coming around here stirring up trouble. Not for me. Not for Elliot. Not now." I think that this show he does know Bernie and he did know the people in the photo and one was So B It.

    Forget that. I think that Bernadette is the mother of elliot because she had the red sweater that was in the photo, she had the photo's and Thurman Hill knew her. Maybe she has something to do with everything and elliot was born at the same time as Heidi...

    I thought then that Mr. Hill was giving money to them because of something that Bernie did because I thought she knew that Sophie/So B. It was related to him and she wanted him to give money to help them out. Now that I read the book, I now understand that Mr. Hill wasn't giving them money because of Bernie but because of Diane. Though my guess was pretty close.-Sarah W

    Great ideas everyone! You all have great ideas but the one I agree with most is sara's last one because I feel the same as her I also think that the author had a a great fish to the story with Heidi feeling like she lost her mom and Grammy on the same day because she finds out about her Grammy the day her mama dies.
