Ending the Book

Hello peoples,

I was quite amazed when Bryce's dad said that Matt and Mike were drug dealers because they aren't he just wants to make their family feel bad even though the Bakers are a nice family. I was really happy when Lynetta stood up for them and said to her dad "You are such a two-faced, condescending, narrow-minded jackass!" This meant that she wasn't scared to stand up for what she believed in.

On page 166 when Juli said that "the most disturbing thing of all because I had to admit that I didn't really know him." She was talking about Bryce and how all these years she didn't really know Bryce she just liked him for his looks. Now she has found the strength to admit that.

I like how when in the book they have a little pause in the chapter but not ending it they put chicken tracks which I think relate to the cover of the book and to how Bryce called himself a royal cluck faced jerk.

You know on page 188 when Bryce says "I'll never be the same again." I think that he is right, he did change a lot an as he was growing up he discovered who he really was not just some guy he made up to be him.

Thank you all for reading. That is all I want to post for now because I am posting mostly on Stephen's blog.

Page 100-140

I was sad for Juli when she heard that Bryce said that she had a messy yard but I think that it also helped her become distracted with the things her family was going through(made her have something to do not just sitting around and sulking.) It also helped her become friends with Bryce's Grandpa, which I think helped her because he let her get all her feelings out.

I think that Juli's parents made the wrong decision because I think that she deserved to know earlier about her uncle and how that was effecting her family. I think that she was old enough and if they told her earlier she might have taken it better.
One last thing, I think that it is interesting that how some retarted
people say things that sound like real words and others don't.
(Example)

David:"Fwank eoow!"="thank you!"

Mabel:"Gwa-aaal,"=I have no idea what she said.

What do you think?

Thanks for reading!

Earlier Convo

Hey Guys,

Remember when we were talking on Simonida's blog about since how both covers are flipped and other things on the book are flipped. Which led us to talking about why couldn't their feelings flip too. I think that their feelings do switch flip. At first Juli likes Bryce but Bryce doesn't like Juli. Now Juli doesn't like Bryce because of what he did, but now Bryce is seeing the error of his ways and is starting to like Juli. It is funny how they flip like that. It is even funnier that we predicted that before we read the book. Keep reading!

What do you think?

Flipped

Hey Guys,
Sorry I haven't blogged very much this week. I will try and make up and blog right now.

On page 63 the beginning of the part we were supposed to read this week I finally understood why she cried for 2 weeks. When Juli said that she did 2 chapters earlier she didn’t explain that in full detail. It was because they cut down the tree, her dog champ died and most of all finding Bryce throwing out the eggs. I felt really bad for her because bad things happened to the things she loved the most.

It was funny to learn how Mike and Matt made the name of their band, Mystery Pisser. It was all because of their dog Champ.

I was surprised when Juli had nothing to her science fair project on because everyone was saying that she was like the smartest person in the class. I thought that it was really nice that the teacher gave her the option of raising chicks. Even though at first she was scared to at first because she thought that chicks might die or get sick if she didn’t take care of them right. I really liked when her dad went to help her out because they got to spend time together and she really learned a lot from him. Doing this project, I think really helped Juli because It helped her learn how to care for something else and to get over her fear of them dying. I think when Juli saw the chicks inside the shell with their heart beating was when she realized that she shouldn’t be scared she should be happy to help 6 little lives into the world. It actually turned out that she set the record at the school for making all 6 of the chicks stay alive. Just look where she is now with the eggs.

I think that when Juli found out that her chickens made eggs and she could sell them to make money she was really happy because she doesn’t get allowance very often and now she was making money every day practically. Which is why she was even more upset when she found out that Bryce was throwing her eggs out. She could have made 1 hundred more dollars if she had sold them.

I think that in Bryce’s chapter that starts on page 81 he started to realize that Juli was not that bad and that she was going through a lot in her life right then. Knowing this Bryce also got closer to his grand father, which I think is a good thing. I thought that it was really good when he apologized.

Also in Bryce’s chapter, which I talked about in the last paragraph, I learned that Bryce’s dad could be really mean and assume things that aren’t true. I really don’t like him. Example= Grandpa says, “ Juli’s father has a retarded brother and-“ Bryce’s dad says” Well that explains a lot doesn’t it!” Right there is a part in the story that shows that the dad is mean and is assuming things.

That is all I want to talk about up to page 100 but tomorrow I will blog about the pages up to 140.

What do you guys think about the book up to page 100?

Thanks for reading!-Sarah W

Back ground

Hey guys,
I would like you opinion on what I should have the background of my blog as.
It would have to represent the theme of the book or what the book is about.

Eggs=They show what happened between Juli and Bryce how Juli kind of opened her eyes to see what Bryce really was not just on the outside but in the inside as well.

Chicks=They represent the cover of the book and I think that one of the main ideas of the book is about the chicks and they eggs.

Jelly Beans=I know this might seem like a weird one but it could represent how in the book the main characters have lots of conflicting feeling or emotions. (mostly Juli) Jelly Beans would represent that because there are so many of them and you just don't know which one to choose that will be right/right flavour.

If you guys could help me out on my decision that would be awesome. I will put up a poll but if you could put up your comments as well that would be awesome.

Thanks a lot-Sarah W

Questions, So many questions!

Hey Guys, I am going to blog again some more but I have just enough time right now to do a short blog.

While reading this book I have come across many questions, but I think that one of the most significat questions was:

What would happen if either Bryce or Juli moved away? Would it effect their lives in any way? and one last question to top it off is. What would they do to make things better. (if it did effect them)

This blog can be where we post our questions and then the other people who might know the answer can put an answer to the question.

Thanks for reading all!-Sarah W

If you were to have a friend in the book, Who would it be?

Just like we did in class for our other novels. Write below who you would want to have a friend in the book with and why.

If I were to choose a person in the book to be friends with I would pick Juli because I think that she would be a good friend. She would listen to me if I have a problem. I know this because of the time she spends with her dad, shows to me that she is a very kind person and can be serious at times. But at other times she can be kind of fun and playful. A person like that would be really fun to play with. I would have loved to climb that tree with her because it sounds so cool. Any way she just sounds like she would be a really cool friend. What do you think about being friends with Juli?

Thanks for reading!-Sarah W

Edited Copy of my response to Simondia's Blog

I agree with you Steph"E"n that since both the blurb and the chick are flipped, that the book should be flipped as well (like their feelings and such). Just like how at each chapter Bryce is flipped to the top and then the next chapter Juli is flipped to the bottom.

I also agree with you Simondia that maybe later on in the book Bryce and Juli's perspective will flip and they might be able to get along better just like how Grandpa said they should.

I can't relate to the book “Heart Beat” because I haven't read it yet. Instead, I’m going to relate to the book “Eggs”.

Just like Bryce said, “eggs scare me.” This quote and the general idea behind it relates to the book “Eggs” because everything starts with eggs in the book. I think that a lot of things will happen about eggs in “Flipped” because of Bryce being scared of eggs. I think that is also part of the reason that there is a chick on the cover of the book.

I realized that Bryce in his point of view is always making Juli seem like a negative person, but in Juli’s point of view all she is doing is trying to help. I think that this shows what kind of person they are. Juli is a person who is always trying to help, is an energetic person, forgives easily and always gives people a chance. (Looks on the positive side) Bryce isn’t always willing to accept help, and doesn’t always give people a chance, (a.k.a. Juli) He might be a pessimist while Juli is an optimist. I got all this from just the first 30-40 pages.

I felt really bad for Juli when she lost her tree because I know that the tree was her friend and that she loved it. If I were her, I would be sad. I also think that the other kids should have helped her. I don’t think that she would have no friends who would have helped her because she sounds like a really energetic person. If only people gave her a chance they might get to know her and want to be her friend.

Okay, I am going to write another blog tomorrow because I still have a lot more sticky notes to write about. I also know that when people have something really long to read they get kind of tired and don’t take in all of it, but I want people to read it so I will stop here for now.

**************Any way there is no such thing as a too long comment.************<

Bye!Blog ya tomorrow-Sarah W
