Flipped

Hey Guys,
Sorry I haven't blogged very much this week. I will try and make up and blog right now.

On page 63 the beginning of the part we were supposed to read this week I finally understood why she cried for 2 weeks. When Juli said that she did 2 chapters earlier she didn’t explain that in full detail. It was because they cut down the tree, her dog champ died and most of all finding Bryce throwing out the eggs. I felt really bad for her because bad things happened to the things she loved the most.

It was funny to learn how Mike and Matt made the name of their band, Mystery Pisser. It was all because of their dog Champ.

I was surprised when Juli had nothing to her science fair project on because everyone was saying that she was like the smartest person in the class. I thought that it was really nice that the teacher gave her the option of raising chicks. Even though at first she was scared to at first because she thought that chicks might die or get sick if she didn’t take care of them right. I really liked when her dad went to help her out because they got to spend time together and she really learned a lot from him. Doing this project, I think really helped Juli because It helped her learn how to care for something else and to get over her fear of them dying. I think when Juli saw the chicks inside the shell with their heart beating was when she realized that she shouldn’t be scared she should be happy to help 6 little lives into the world. It actually turned out that she set the record at the school for making all 6 of the chicks stay alive. Just look where she is now with the eggs.

I think that when Juli found out that her chickens made eggs and she could sell them to make money she was really happy because she doesn’t get allowance very often and now she was making money every day practically. Which is why she was even more upset when she found out that Bryce was throwing her eggs out. She could have made 1 hundred more dollars if she had sold them.

I think that in Bryce’s chapter that starts on page 81 he started to realize that Juli was not that bad and that she was going through a lot in her life right then. Knowing this Bryce also got closer to his grand father, which I think is a good thing. I thought that it was really good when he apologized.

Also in Bryce’s chapter, which I talked about in the last paragraph, I learned that Bryce’s dad could be really mean and assume things that aren’t true. I really don’t like him. Example= Grandpa says, “ Juli’s father has a retarded brother and-“ Bryce’s dad says” Well that explains a lot doesn’t it!” Right there is a part in the story that shows that the dad is mean and is assuming things.

That is all I want to talk about up to page 100 but tomorrow I will blog about the pages up to 140.

What do you guys think about the book up to page 100?

Thanks for reading!-Sarah W

  1. I'm sorry, I only read up to page 80, since I forgot my book at school. (I think)

I noticed that the story was still progressing quite the same, and this might've happened, but as far as I can tell, Bryce hasn't apologized to Juli, which I think makes him more of a coward... I hope the book flips again soon.

Sorry I can't comment any more, I didn't even blog (which is a shame, today's the deadline), I was quite busy.

I'll try to blog more Monday morning!

    -Evan... or is it?

  2. Hey Sarah and Stephen (mystery Evan)

First of all a great background. In particular, I think the single white egg - do you want to explain why you choose this image. I think it is very powerful.

You have made some amazing insights in your blog about Juli and the struggles/scarfices she has gone through. But, I am most interested in how Bryce's relationships with the Grandfather and father will impact his relationship with Juli. I think you have identified a very important moment in the book and why Bryce acts the way he does. In your next blog think about this idea a little more.
